Water Heating Options with the EarthLinked® System

The EarthLinked® system can be used to heat the water for your home in two different ways—through integrated "full-time preheating" water heating or through "desuperheating" (heat recovery) water heating.

Full-time Water Heating

The EarthLinked® water preheating system heats water at any time of the year, extracting heat from the earth to maintain the preset temperature in the storage tank. This integrated water preheating option has the full system capacity available to heat water, providing quicker recovery from a cold water tank than an electric resistance water heater. This method of preheating water is up to four times as efficient as electric resistance water heating.

Desuperheating Water Heating

The desuperheater recovers waste heat during the air conditioning cycle to heat water. Savings are realized in the cooling season by transferring waste heat to your hot water heater. Even in the heating mode the desuperheater often provides pre-heating to the water heater, reducing the work required of the electric resistance elements.

While others offer a desuperheating option, ECR's desuperheater is pre-configured to expedite the connection of refrigerant, water, and electrical installation. This labor saving feature is designed to lower the overall installation cost.

This type of unit requires a back-up water heating method such as electric resistance or gas heating.
